We've had some requests for more information on how UC ANR users can set up OneDrive. Please follow these directions, or contact help@ucanr.edu for support.
Open OneDrive from the Start menu
- For Windows PC, you may need to click on the icon in the Notification Area (next to the date/time at the bottom-right of your screen)
- For Mac's, click on Go > Applications > then double-click the One Drive application
Enter your UC Davis email address and click Sign In… You'll be redirected to the UC Davis ADFS page to login.
Confirm your UC Davis email address and enter your Kerberos Passphrase
- Note: If enrolled in Duo, you will then be prompted to approve the login.
Click through the dialogue boxes to select which folders you'd like to sync and where the OneDrive folder will be located on your computer…
Your OneDrive directory will then appear on the left of your File Explorer window.
- Note: Windows may display two OneDrive folders. Use OneDrive – UC Davis
OneDrive syncs to 365.ucdavis.edu in the cloud. Sign in to your Office365 account (365.ucdavis.edu) and click the apps grid and the select OneDrive.
From the OneDrive page you will see your synced files.

Set up OneDrive on your computer
- Click Start.
- Search for OneDrive.

- Set the location you want to store your cloud files.

Create folders
- Select New > Folder.
- Type a name for the folder and select Create.
- Select the files you want and drag them into the folder.
Click the OneDrive cloud icon up in your Menu bar, click to open the menu, and select Preferences. Go to the Account tab. Select Choose Folders.
Why does OneDrive say I don't have enough storage? ›
The folder that is shared with you takes up a lot of space on OneDrive, which might make OneDrive not enough space when there is. However, OneDrive only stores a few files, so "OneDrive says not enough space but there is" will bother you. OneDrive storage quota changed when the subscription or promotion expired.

Creating a Microsoft account
- Go to the OneDrive sign-in page. Select Create one!
- A form will appear prompting you to fill information, including your email address and password,. Fill out the form, then click Create account.
- Your Microsoft account is now created, and your OneDrive will appear.
How to Create a New Folder
- Click Right button of the mouse, on a blank space on the Desktop. You will see a Pull-down menu.
- In this menu, place the pointer on new option and click it. And you will see one more menu.
- Now click folder.
Manage your storage in the OneDrive sync app
- Click the blue OneDrive icon in the Windows notification area, and then select. > Settings.
- This shows an overview of the OneDrive storage available. Select Manage storage.
- This opens a largest files page that shows a list of all files in your OneDrive, sorted by size.
Select New > Folder. Type a name for the folder and select Create. Select the files you want and drag them into the folder.
