Known for its gingerbread cookies, Wicklein also sells other German baked goods. This store is located on the market square in Nuremberg and specializes in Elisenlebkuchen - a type of gingerbread with ground nuts instead of flour.

I absolutely loved the Lebkuchen here. I only got a chance to visit it on my last day in Nuremberg and it was fantastic. There's so much variety it's so hard to choose from and the staff were extremely nice and welcoming. My biggest regret is not going there more than I did.

I was always asking myself why Lebkuchen are so expensive, compared to the one in the supermarket. We'll, it's has all to do with the ingredients, where nuts are rather expensive compared to weat and they are made by hand. Still I think €4,45 for a cookie is a lot, the taste is amazing and worth trying. With the chocolate on top, it makes it a very yummy cookie.

The perfect store to find a fresh lebkuchen and maybe a souvenir to bring home. With the Christmas market starting next weekend they had a huge selection of cookies and treats to take home. We saw them making the cookies fresh and they smelled amazing. The prices were really reasonable and the service was so nice.

Cute shop, nice gingerbread. Though if you wish to buy a pack of gingerbread you can buy it at the local supermarket for cheaper. The original store does feature other pretty boxes that are good for gifting though.

We were keeping our eyes open looking for a place to get gingerbread and stumbled on this wonderful shop. Delicious!

The café could be run more nicely. Selfservice doesn't quite go with the fancy image they try to project. The baking creation of the day, a lebkuchen strudel, was not particularly inspired, I found

If you are in Nuremberg and like gingerbread you definitely have to go to the Lebküchnerei at the Hautmarkt👍👍👍The freshly baked gingerbread🍪 are a poem. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Finally, a walk through the store 😉

Lebkuchen (gingerbread) stores and cafes are a MUST in Nürnberg. I really like this one specially. Besides a a big variety of gingerbread options all year long, you can get a nice cup of coffee or a nice chai latte. They have as well sometimes cake or strudel in case you don’t feel like gingerbread day. The place has a nice space inside with a traditional oven and beautiful atmosphere and if the weather is nice you can sit outside and have a nice view of one of the town squares and view to the castle.

A lovely store to stock up on your spice biscuits! Huge selection at reasonable prices. I’ve been during the Christmas season where it’s incredibly busy so it’s nice to leisurely browse in this wonderful space.

Poor service when it comes to pay. Today 24th February around 2pm it took like forever when there was a short queue. The cashier was speaking and having fun with the coworkers, and not attending to me, and when I had to pay, I tried to tell her that she had to approve my transaction on the computer because I was paying with a different money currency since I was a tourist. Turned out that she was interrupting me in German (I repeat, I’m a tourist) and the transaction was not approved because this person didn't want to listen to me (The card worked perfectly in another store after this experience) Very unpleasant woman, rude and disrespectful.

Here you have all varieties of gingerbread you can imagine, but also many other traditional sweets & also the authentic warm red wine that is served in cold winter months.Everything right across the Nuermebug Christkindlesmarket that is one of the oldest Christmas markets.Gingerbread is also made fresh just in front of you.

Great place to sit and have the typical lebkuchen while enjoying Nuremberg old views.

There are many places to try the famous speciality food from Nuremburg called lebkuchen. Our favourites came from Wicklein - Die Lebkuechnerei which occupies a 15th-century building at Hauptmarkt in the city centre. Here you can buy large freshly-baked lebkuchen cookies as well as bags and tins of these delicious cookies. Opening hours are 10am to 7pm daily (closed on Sundays). We really enjoyed the big cookies sold from the counter as soon as you enter the Wicklein shop. You can buy original plain lebkuchen or those topped with chocolate and sprinkled with various other ingredients. Texture is very soft and flavour is really nice, a good blend of honey, ginger and nuts. They make for a great snacks to enjoy while browsing the Christmas markets and delightful streets of Nuremburg. We purchased 5 of the Wicklein gingerbread cookies and returned to Hong Kong and have been really enjoying them since. Sadly, they will be finished soon.
