Louisiana Downs is excited to announce the opening of our backstretch on Wednesday, May 6th. This is only for Horsem*n who have been allocated stalls for the 2020 Thoroughbred season. Before making any shipping arrangements,you MUST contact Natalie Moses @ 318-820-8324.Ship-in hours will be from 11am – 5pm. You will only be allowed to use the stalls that have been assigned to you, No Exceptions. We also ask that Quarter Horse Trainer’s that remain at Louisiana Downs begin to make shipping arrangements for their next location. We encourage everyone to continue social-distancing protocols. Starting Friday, May 8, 2020, the horsem*n that have been given stalls at Evangeline Downs will be allowed to bed their assigned stalls, to allow them to get ready for their horses to arrive in the future.Corey Veazey will be reaching out to the trainers as Boyd is requesting that trainers arrange an approximate time for them to be given their assigned stalls.

They are happy to announce that beginning on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, horses will be allowed to move in from the surrounding areas if the trainer of the Thoroughbred horse has stalls currently occupied at Louisiana Downs. No additional personnel will be allowed to move in until further notice. You must contact Natalie Moses at (318) 820-8324 prior to shipping any horses.

(4/9/20)The Honorable Sharon Wilson of the 14th Judicial District Court ordered that the temporary restraining order be dissolved as to provisions 2 and 4 of the Louisiana State Racing Commission’s Emergency Order of March 20, 2020. The result of this is that the training surfaces at Louisiana Downs, Delta Downs, and Evangeline Downs is to be open immediately for training as per the Commission order (4 days a week). Finally, with respect to provision 3, the movement of horses and personnel between tracks, was not addressed by the court since the Louisiana State Racing Commission removed that requirement pursuant to a second Emergency Order dated April 6, 2020.
ATTN: RACING COMMISSION BANS USE OF CLENBUTEROL IN QUARTER HORSES
At the July 16th meeting, the Racing Commission voted to ban the use of Clenbuterol in Quarter Horses effective the first day of the Evangeline Downs meet, or October 3, 2018.
The detection of Clenbuterol AT ANY LEVEL will constitute a violation of a Class 3 drug, thereby necessitating a penalty of:
1) The suspension of license for a period of not less than 60 days and not more than six months and/or a fine of not more than $1,500.
2) The purse shall be redistributed.
