Career Prospects

• This programme offers graduates diverse career prospects in the food and beverage field. It empowers graduates to pursue roles in food and beverage-related positions in restaurants, corporations, hotels, attractions, airlines, cruise lines, and MICE. They can serve profit or non-profit organizations in various capacities such as customer relations, sales and business development, facilities management, and food service management within the industry.

Further Study Opportunities

• Opportunities are available for the graduates of this programme to pursue postgraduate studies in Hong Kong and abroad. Students may continue their studies to obtain a master's degree in food and beverage-related areas, such as restaurant and catering, MICE, hotel, food service management, or other business-related disciplines.

Students are required to complete the stipulated requirements with satisfactory results for an honours degree. The programme also offers an option for students to exit the programme for an ordinary degree.

Discipline-Specific Requirements (DSR)

Note:

1. Students who have not met the equivalent standard of undergraduate degree Language and Communication Requirements (LCR) under GUR are required to take up to 9 additional credits in LCR (2 subjects in English & 1 subject in Chinese, 3 credits each). They will be advised if they are required to take LCR subjects on admission.
2. Students from non-business-related disciplines (i.e. holders of Associate Degree or equivalent qualification not in Business/ Hospitality and Tourism) may also be considered for admission to this programme. These students will be required to take an additional foundation subject if they have not completed similar subjects before.
3. Students who choose to apply to exit the programme with an ordinary degree without honours are not required to take these four subjects (total: 12 credits).

The minimum requirements for admission to the programme are:

Holder of a recognised Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma or an equivalent qualification in business-related areas. Applicants with qualifications in non-business-related areas will also be considered and, if admitted, are required to take additional foundation subject(s) as appropriate; OR

Holder of other qualifications in related areas at Level 4 under the HKSAR Qualifications Framework (QF) who has a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.

Notes:

1. The main medium of instruction of the sub-degree programme concerned should be English. An applicant who has completed the programme with other languages as the main medium of instruction should fulfil the following minimum English language requirements:
   • A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet-based test/ 550 for the paper-based test; OR
   • An overall Band Score of 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR
   • Satisfactory results in other recognised English language assessments
2. An applicant who does not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but has reached the age of 25 before 1 September, in the year in which he/ she seeks admission, may apply as mature applicant. He/ she must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge and potential to indicate a high probability of being able to complete the programme successfully. In addition, he/ she may be required to take appropriate foundation subject(s).
