Coasters Galore at Six Flags Over Georgia (2024)

The highly popular Six Flags park has a wonderful collection of rides and coasters that includes everything from a traditional woodie to a bone-rattling hypercoaster. But the park isn't just about the thrills; it also has plenty of attractions for those without ice water in their veins, including a rafting adventure on Thunder River and a classic carousel. Young and old alike would enjoy meeting some of their favorite Looney Tunes and Justice League characters, and in Bugs Bunny World, there are plenty of kid-friendly rides for guests of all sizes.

Six Flags Over Georgia alsoincludes a full-featured water park, Hurricane Harbor, that is included with admission.Among its attractions are a wave pool, water slides, ands an interactive water play structure.

As with all Six Flags locations, the Georgia park offers Fright Fest. The annual Halloween celebration includes haunted mazes, special shows, and other features to mark the holiday. The park also gets festive with Holiday in the Park, an annual celebration that includes gazillions of twinkling lights, special shows, seasonal food and beverages, and select rides.

Coasters and Rides Rundown

• Among its great thrill machines, the park features Goliath, a well-regarded hypercoaster, the flying coaster Superman: Ultimate Flight, and one of the Southeast's tallest and fastest stand-up roller coasters, The Georgia Scorcher.
• Six Flags Over Georgia is home to two major dark rides. Justice League: Battle for Metropolis is a sophisticated 4-D, media-based ride that outfits passengers with blasters to help the DC heroes escape the wrath of Lex Luthor and the Joker.Monster Mansion is more of an old-school ride with animatronic beasts lurking throughout the flooded abode.
• Those who are afraid of heights will probably want to steer clear of the aptly named Acrophobia, a 200-foot-tall drop tower ride, as well as SkyScreamer, a 24-story-tall swing ride.
• Regardless of their thrill tolerance level, all visitors would enjoy a ride aboard the Rabun Gap Railroad’s classic locomotive.
• The park has a great collection of spinning flat rides, including Wonder Woman Flight School, Poison Ivy Toxic Spin, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters, and Catwoman Whip.
• The old-school Log Jamboree flume ride can help visitors cool down on a hot, muggy day.

Hurricane Harbor Water Park

The water park isn’t huge, but it is included with general admission and can be a fun diversion from the coasters, especially on a hot Georgia day. (Note that Six Flags operates a separate, standalone water park, White Water, that is located in Marietta. It is larger and more full-featured than Hurricane Harbor.)

• The whole family can enjoy some wet and wild fun at Paradise Island, an interactive water play attraction with water slides.
• Everyone can bob in the surf at the Calypso Bay wave pool.
• The crazy thrill ride, Tsunami Surge, sends riders in four-passenger cloverleaf tubes racing around a bowl and soaring up a halfpipe-like wall.
• Bonzai Pipelines is a waterslide tower with a variety of thrilling slides to try.

What’s New at Six Flags Over Georgia?

• For the 2021 season, the Mind Bender coaster is getting a new theme and a new name: Riddler Mind Bender. It will be based on the Batman villain and include his signature green color.
• In 2020, the park welcomed two spinning flat rides to the Gotham City area. Catwoman Whip sends passengers soaring 67 feet in the air at a nearly vertical position. Poison Ivy Toxic Spin is a classic Scrambler ride.
• For the 2018 season, Six Flags Over Georgia transformed the Georgia Cyclone woodie into the hybrid wooden-steel coaster, Twisted Cyclone. The ride garners rave reviews.

Special Events

The park’s primary events are its annual Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park. For 2021, Six Flags Over Georgia continued its holiday light displays through the end of January for a post-Christmas event it called World of Illumination. And it continued the winter-season fun with Hot Wheels Ultimate Drive-Thru Experience. The event features life-sized (and larger-than-life-sized) Hot Wheels replicas, including monster trucks,

What’s to Eat?

You can find the usual park favorites, including cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, lemonade, and ice cream. Promenade Primo’s Pizzeria serves Italian fare, while Macho Nacho features burritos and other Tex-Mex dishes. JB's Sports Bar and Grill offers beer and wine along with burgers, wings and other pub food. The park also has a Johnny Rockets location.

The park offers reduced price daily tickets for children (under 48"). 2 and under are free. Discounted tickets are often available online. Season pass tickets include admission to all Six Flags parks. Six Flags also offers a membership program. For an additional fee, the park offers the Flash Pass go-to-the-front-of-the-lines program.
